The majority of M-Scan’s forensic analyses are undertaken for the prosecution where we are instructed by the police or are referred from another forensic service provider. Our forensic scientists can provide expert advice ranging from exhibit analysis and fire/explosion scene attendance to case review and general consultancy. They regularly produce written evidence for the courts in the form of expert reports and/or s.9 statements, and have experience of giving evidence in court and withstanding challenging cross-examination.
Since we also carry out defence work, our scientists undertake robust investigations and ensure that all of their actions are fully justifiable and resistant to potential attack by the defence. All advice, information and evidence provided by M-Scan forensic scientists is impartial and within the specific area of expertise of the individual concerned.
M-Scan’s prosecution work is undertaken in compliance with Annex K of the Disclosure Manual and the Criminal Procedure Rules.
