M-Scan's
biopharmaceutical contract analysis facilities in Europe
will expand significantly
in January 2007, with the opening of our first German
laboratory in Freiburg.
The lab will augment M-Scan's existing capabilities and services, complementing
our offices in Bonn and Munich, and our facilities in Switzerland and the UK.
We will also be investing in the expansion of our Swiss lab and
in the installation of additional advanced mass spectrometry technology. This
investment confirms our continuing commitment to meeting the evolving needs of
our clients.

Professor Howard R. Morris FRS, Emeritus Professor of Biological Chemistry and Senior
Research Investigator, Imperial College, and President of the
M-SCAN group of companies, has been honoured by the award of
a Honoris Causa Degree in Biotechnology - the "Laurea
Federiciana" by the University of Naples, Italy.
Naples University is one of the oldest in Europe, founded
in 1224 AD by King Federico the Second. Professor Morris
has been honoured for his outstanding contributions to the
development of Mass Spectrometry including instrumentation
and analytical methods for the analysis of Proteins and Glycoproteins,
in particular peptide mapping, sequencing, disulphide bridge
and glycosylation analytical strategies which are now used
worldwide in pharmaceutical and biotechnology product development
and characterisation.
Professor Morris delivered a public address ("Lectio")
entitled "Mass Spectrometry in Biotechnology: essential
in providing safe effective medicines for the future" in
the Aula Magna Storica, Naples University at the Conferment
Ceremony on December 1st.

TOC-V wp Total Organic Carbon Analyser offering
the ability to perform TOC analyses to GLP level for the
pharmaceutical industry (e.g. analysis of Ultrapure water,
cleaning validation, water contamination).
This service can be used for rapid screening in combination with M-Scan's expertise
in MS to identify potential organic contaminants in samples failing the TOC specifications.
